How to care for full-leather shoes

Have you ever heard shoes moan softly? Probably not, but trust us - if you don't take care of your all-leather pets, they can look pretty disappointed. Leather shoes, sandals or slippers from our workshop are made with premium Italian leather and a premium cork blend from sunny Spain. In addition, we also equip them with an anatomically shaped cowhide-covered insole, which sucks sweat beautifully, and a non-smear sole. All this to make you feel as comfortable as possible, look distinctive and still maintain a healthy stride. But beware: a piece like this also deserves regular and proper care. Without it, it doesn't do well with water and wetness!

Why don't leather shoes like water without protection?

Designer leather shoes are not "water lovers". Without the right care and impregnation, the leather can curl up or develop stains and spots that can quickly dampen your enjoyment of your new shoes. What's more, you're missing out on the main advantage of premium leather - durability and elegance. But when you care for leather shoes with love, they can last for years and accompany you on (almost) all your adventures.

1. Basic cleaning

Before you go out for your first walk together, give your shoes some time. Wipe them clean of dust and dirt with a soft cloth or soft brush. You'll be rewarded with a perfect shine and the start of a caring routine that keeps your leather in shape.

2. Impregnation is your new best friend

Got lots of friends? We're so glad! But none of them will protect your leather boots from moisture and dirt as well as a quality impregnation. Choose a product designed for natural leather, spray on clean and dry boots and give them a rest. Once dry, they'll become more resistant to light summer showers and the minor pitfalls of city traffic or the outdoor jungle.

3. Creaming and nourishing

After a thorough cleaning and impregnation comes the next step - a nourishing cream or balm specially formulated for leather shoes. Choose a cream in a suitable shade that matches the colour of your shoes, or opt for a neutral option if you're unsure. Apply a reasonable amount of cream with a soft cloth and massage into the leather to saturate and soften the shoes. Leather treated in this way breaks less and retains its flexibility. The result? A perfect look, more vibrant colour and a great feel every step of the way.

4. Regular maintenance and proper storage

Remember that leather shoes age not only with wear but also with rest. Air out your shoes after a long day and store them ideally in a dry and well-ventilated place. When the season is over and you want to store them in your closet, use tensioners or stuff the toes with paper. And they'll be ready to be your best buddy again next season.

5. In case of more wet...

... better consider special shoes that are primarily designed for this. Our leather models will do you the best service in the dry or in moderate humidity. A good downpour doesn't do them any good, and if they do get wet, let them dry slowly and naturally (never near a direct heat source, which can dry them out and damage them).

Repetition is the mother of wisdom, which is why we prefer to add these two points - we hope they'll entertain you and help you care for your shoes with as much love and care as they do for your feet.

6. A washing machine? Better think twice

You may have thought that cleaning your shoes in the washing machine might seem like a quick fix. But with leather shoes, it's not the best idea. A washing machine could damage the leather unnecessarily - it could lose its shape, crack or lose its natural elasticity. Instead, we recommend gentle hand cleaning with a soft cloth and special leather products. With a little care, you'll preserve the beauty and longevity of your shoes.

7. Cork soles and water? Better without

The natural cork we use for the insoles and soles of our shoes is great with your feet, but less so with water. Prolonged contact with moisture can weaken, soften or slightly deform the cork. To ensure that your shoes last as long as possible, we recommend protecting them from direct exposure to more moisture. If they accidentally get wet, just let them dry naturally - slowly, away from a direct heat source.

With a few simple care steps, you'll have a reliable partner for relaxing and busy days. And as a bonus, your leather companion will repay you with durability and versatile elegance. Our designer leather shoes, sandals and slippers combine "the best of Italy and Spain" - if you pamper them, they'll go with you anywhere. So don't worry about wasting time taking care of your leather - on the contrary, the energy you put in will come back to you in the form of a healthy, comfortable and stylish stride.
